Each of our high quality, fairly traded Bolga Baskets have been hand-woven in the Bolgatanga region of northern Ghana. They are woven using sustainable elephant grass that grows in the rich flood plains near the village of Bolgatanga and finished with natural dyes and a durable leather handle. Fully malleable and easy to reshape, simply immerse in water for a few minutes and adjust while wet.
These bags are becoming so popular as they are not only beautiful looking but also very versatile. This size is perfect for young girls or when you just need to pick up a few items at the farmers market yourself. Alternatively they are a great stylish storage solution for around the house.
We source these bags from organisations that work directly with the weavers and co-operatives in Bolgatanga and the surrounding villages. Ensuring the weavers themselves are supported and respected and that the baskets are purchased at fair market prices.
